Armada, the supply chain optimisation company in the Labat Informatics group, has secured the South African distribution rights for Ironside Technology`s e-commerce solution, Ironworks.
Antony Makins, Armada national sales manager, says: "Ironworks integrates into enterprise resource planning (ERP) via the Web. Customers can extend their ordering business processes into their suppliers` ERP system, allowing them to optimise their inventory management and check on the status of existing orders. On the supplier side, this enhances their sales initiatives and improves customer service."
A thin client with a Web browser is used to log in to the Ironworks Internet server via the Web, providing a realtime interface with the ERP order management system. The technology is designed for simplicity and performance and contains templates to give developer a head start in getting e-commerce application on line. There is an optional Ironside-powered developers kit for businesses which want to customise their application. Built-in error handling manages line failures and the integrated realtime system can be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Security features include data encryption, user ID and password protection, firewall co-existence and virus protection. Ironworks is available for AS/400, Unix and Windows NT.
"This Web-enabled technology is adaptable for a number of business models, ranging from distributed ordering and payment to a mix of distributed and centralised structures and it is easily scalable, supporting increased users and products," Makins points out.
"Business-to-business applications can result in lower operating costs, improved order accuracy and increased revenues," adds Makins. "Ironwork`s high-performance features contribute to excellent customer service. This results in the opportunity to expand the customer base and take advantage of new market opportunities."
