Ascential Software, the unquestioned leader in the enterprise data integration market, has announced the general availability of five new versions of its DataStage Packaged Application Connectivity Kits (PACKs). These PACKs have been designed to address the specific extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) requirements of industry-leading applications: SAP BW, SAP R/3, Siebel, PeopleSoft, and Oracle Applications.
"SAP, Siebel, PeopleSoft, and Oracle Applications are some of the most popular business applications in the world," says Julian Field, GM of Ascential Software South Africa. "Each of these applications has a different metadata requirement which cannot be addressed generically if companies are to maximise the value of important business data locked up in them."
* With DataStage Load PACK for SAP BW 3.0, SAP and Ascential have jointly developed tighter integration between their products and Ascential has developed a certified solution for loading non-SAP data to SAP BW. In a show of joint commitment, SAP has extended its Business APIs support to enhance the DataStage/SAP BW integration.
* DataStage PACK for SAP R/3 4.0 has obviated the need to extract data from R/3 via SAP`s proprietary ABAP and IDocs. It also permits the loading of data into R/3 from external, non-SAP sources.
* DataStage PACK for Siebel 2.0 provides raw extraction performance and bidirectional business level access to Siebel. The previous release of the Siebel PACK provided data integration via Siebel`s Enterprise Integration Manager (EIM), but customers asked for a more efficient method for extracting data. For extracting large volumes of data, the new Direct Access component of the Siebel PACK allows users more refined selection criteria, specifying exactly what data they need, significantly reducing the time it takes to extract data.
* DataStage PACK for PeopleSoft 2.2 provides streamlined direct data access to PeopleSoft. This new approach streamlines the previous three-step process into a single step.
* With an installed base of over 1 400 companies, the Oracle E-Business Suite is a major source for enterprise applications, particularly SAP. DataStage PACK for Oracle Applications 1.1 includes modules for customer relationship management, supply chain management and enterprise resource planning to ensure data in these applications can be beneficiated.
"Common to all of these PACKs is enhanced performance, ease of implementation use and investment protection," adds Field. "They indicate again the importance customers are attaching to business intelligence as a core discipline today."
