ASG, IBM in cloud partnership

Computerworld.

The agreement involves ASG Group providing a locally-hosted private cloud with the processing architecture of IBM's Power 770 systems. The company will host managed business applications via the cloud.

According to CRN, the hardware will be used in ASG's Sydney and Perth centres. ASG co-founder and GM of marketing Steve Tull says the integrator had a long history deploying services on IBM hardware, including for the Department of Office of Shared services in western Australia.

"We've partnered with IBM on more traditional managed services but this time we said we want to get into a particular cloud-based offer," Tull says.

Delimiter states that early this year, ASG revealed it had signed a SAP-related contract with mining company, CITIC Pacific, which ASG flagged as its entrance into the local cloud computing race.

Preparing for this move, in 2010, ASG had previously acquired SAP capabilities by adding to its stable Melbourne-based Courtland Business Solutions, and the specialist company, Progress Pacific.
