Johannesburg, 27 Sept 1999

During the recent Brio/SQR user group in Muldersdrift, Abraxas Enterprise Software, local distributor of Brio and SQRiBE, announced the merger between Brio Technology and SQRiBE Technology.

Brio and SQRiBE have been technology partners since 1997 and formally merged on 3 August to create Brio Technology.

This, noted Ofir Kedar, CEO of SQRiBE, has given the companies the opportunity to understand each other`s products and organisation.

According to Kedar and Yorgen Edholm, CEO of Brio, "the new Brio will offer completeness, usability and scalability that will be unmatched in the enterprise market".

"The vision of the new combined company reflects the model that we are moving towards - an integrated infrastructure for decision processing," Edholm added.

According to Laurent Henault, Brio`s Europe, Middle East and Africa region MD of strategic alliances, the underlying reason for the merger is to develop an enterprise business intelligence platform upon which customers can build and deliver a range of capabilities for the broadest range of users.

"We anticipate the integration of our product lines to be completed within 12 months of completion of the merger," noted Edholm.

The new products are Brio One, Brio.Report and Brio.Portal.
