AST eBIS secures wireless transactions

AST eBusiness Integrity Solutions, a division of Advanced Software Technologies-Abraxas (AST-A), has introduced Entrust Technologies` comprehensive suite of solutions that delivers trusted e-business transactions to the exploding wireless Internet appliance market.

"The mobile telephone has the potential to become the most convenient and ubiquitous consumer and e-business transaction `on-ramp` to next generation e-commerce networks," says Steve Crutchley, GM of AST eBIS and SA distributor of Entrust`s products.

Using Entrust`s public-key infrastructure (PKI) security services and solutions, AST eBIS will support the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) which is emerging as a global standard for providing Internet communications and advanced telephony services between wireless cell phone devices and mobile e-business application servers.

According to Crutchley, "this approach creates a powerful wireless e-commerce solution that will work with current phones and future generation wireless devices."

AST eBIS will leverage its position in working with financial institutions and telecommunications equipment manufacturers, carriers and service providers to deliver secure and trusted e-business transactions to mobile Internet appliances such as digital mobile phones, pagers, personal digital assistants, e-commerce servers, and other wireless terminals.
