AST ESM appointed Metron alliance partner

UK-based Metron Technology Limited, a developer of performance management tools, has appointed AST Enterprise Solutions Management (ESM), a leading player in the enterprise systems management arena, as an alliance partner.

Metron`s performance management product, Athene, encompasses the full spectrum of performance management from analysis and reporting to analytical modelling for mainframes and distributed systems.

The partnership is significant in that it builds on AST ESM`s existing solutions that improve the services of IT organisations by applying world-class practices and best-of-breed software.

The partnership allows AST ESM to provide services based on Athene`s APR (Automated Performance Reporting) application, which provides organisations with fast, flexible, `on-demand` performance reporting over the Internet/intranet, without the need to invest in either the software or the personnel usually required to handle performance management issues.

"With our emphasis on meeting individual client requirements, Athene APR will allow us to offer our clients their preferred selection from hundreds of performance metrics to ensure that their reports provide the requisite level of detail," explains Geoff van den Bosch, MD of AST ESM, a business unit of the AST Group.

High-level reporting options include identification of the machines for which performance reports are required, the specific information required, when the reports should be available, how they should be delivered and to whom. Athene APR provides daily reports on the selected performance metrics via the web; these are updated automatically at the frequency chosen by the client to provide a picture of the system`s performance.
