Johannesburg, 23 Apr 2002

AST Enterprise Solutions Management (ESM) has named IT consulting company, SYSDBA as a reseller of the Quest Software application management product offering in SA. AST ESM is the sole distributor for Quest Software in Southern Africa.

"AST ESM has reaffirmed its commitment to the South African marketplace by appointing SYSDBA as a reseller," explains Haydn Pinnell, General Manager of AST Systems Management. "We are now well positioned to assist organisations in Southern Africa to increase the performance and uptime of their business-critical applications while driving down the total cost associated with running those applications.

"We see a tremendous amount of value in appointing SYSDBA. Their considerable knowledge and expertise in the local market will assist both parties in making significant gains into the application management market space," adds Pinnell.

"Having evaluated many products that claim to offer comprehensive application management tools, we came to the simple conclusion that Quest are well ahead of the competition," says Chris Bamber, MD of SYSDBA. "The fact that in SA the product is backed by an organisation with the size and standing of AST meant it was very easy for us to embrace this partnership."

SYSDBA has specialised skills and experience in clustering, Oracle parallel server, database integration, VLDB performance tuning, and the design and implementation of highly available, disaster-tolerant databases and systems. "We will be using the Quest products to augment our current system and database management services," adds Bamber.

With comprehensive product families surrounding today`s core databases and applications, Quest offers solutions for Oracle, IBM and Microsoft databases, as well as leading business-critical applications, such as the Oracle E-Business Suite, Siebel eBusiness Applications, mySAP.com, Microsoft Exchange and PeopleSoft.
