Quest Software, distributed locally by AST Enterprise Solutions Management (ESM), has announced that Spotlight on Windows, a visual root-cause diagnostics solution, fully supports the Microsoft Windows XP operating system.
Spotlight on Windows provides Microsoft system administrators with real-time indicators of approaching downtime and performance problems, enabling them to proactively resolve those issues before end-users are affected.
"Windows XP allows business users to work smarter and faster with more productive tools," explains Geoff van den Bosch, MD of AST ESM, a business unit of the AST Group.
Administrators deploying Windows XP and Windows 2000 can effectively use Spotlight on Windows to detect, diagnose and resolve problems to ensure maximum availability of various applications and minimise the help desk panic calls.
Spotlight on Windows is just one of the growing Quest family of Spotlight visual root-cause diagnostics solutions that are designed specifically for diagnosing and monitoring Microsoft environments, including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft`s Internet Information Server (IIS) and Active Directory. Spotlights add value to any unattended monitoring solution by allowing users to quickly drill down, find and fix the root-cause of failures.
"Spotlight on Windows is all about simplifying the life of administrators for Microsoft infrastructures and applications, and this goes for administrators that have to manage users on Windows XP as well. With us they can perform in-depth, diagnostic troubleshooting in less than 10 minutes," adds Van den Bosch.
In just three years the AST Group has established itself as one of the leading information and communication technology (ICT) companies on the JSE Securities Exchange. Its consistent creation of value for shareholders, clients and employees has resulted in a steady increase in monthly revenue to the R100 million plus mark.
AST is now the fourth largest South African IT company by market capitalisation, and is one of the top three in terms of physical infrastructure (mainframes, servers, desktops, and networks under management) and geographical footprint with over 62 physical locations. Counting almost 90% of the top 100 JSE-listed companies among its clients, the AST Group services mostly large corporate and government clients, but is increasingly offering services to rapidly evolving small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
