AST Enterprise Solutions Management (ESM), a business unit of the AST Group, has announced that, according to IDC and Gartner, Quest Software has demonstrated positive growth and outranked many competitors in the network systems management (NSM), database management and data replication and migration market segments. AST ESM distributes Quest Software in southern Africa.
Despite the fact that all these markets were in decline from 2000 - 2001, Quest managed to grow faster than the overall market and to take market share away from the leading vendors as well.
"A core focus of Quest`s strategy is to provide easy-to-use tools to support DBAs in managing today`s complex multi-database vendor and multi-platform IT environments," explains Haydn Pinnell of AST ESM. "The growth shown by Quest in the Gartner and IDC reports indicates that AST ESM is well positioned and has the right product offering to assist its clients in increasing the performance and uptime of their business-critical applications while driving down the total cost associated with running those applications."
According to Gartner, Quest countered the negative growth trend by growing 32% and is now ranked sixth in the overall US NSM market, outranking key competitors like Microsoft, Oracle and NetIQ. Quest also increased its market share in the database administration market, to be placed third in the distributed market, before BMC.
IDC sees Quest Software as an up-and-coming player in the market for DBA tools for distributed environments, and as a provider of tools to address the full range of data-centric activities. According to this report, Quest grew its market share by 37.2%, outranking CA as the number two vendor in the US. Quest offers solutions for Oracle, IBM and Microsoft databases, as well as leading business-critical applications, such as the Oracle E-Business Suite, Siebel eBusiness Applications, mySAP.com, Microsoft Exchange and PeopleSoft.
