AST to exhibit at Tech-Ed with business-critical solutions

Johannesburg, 08 Aug 2002

The AST Group will showcase its Microsoft capabilities and solutions at this year`s Microsoft Tech-Ed conference, to held at Sun City from 11 to 14 August 2002.

Tech-Ed is the third-largest annual Microsoft conference and exhibition in the world. "As the premier technical education conference for Microsoft products, it provides extensive networking opportunities in a highly stimulating learning environment," explains Dennis Parker of AST Microsoft Solutions, one of the AST exhibitors at Tech-Ed. "It provides us with the perfect opportunity to demonstrate AST`s skills and expertise in the Microsoft arena."

Many of AST`s existing clients are implementing large-scale, enterprise-wide solutions on the Microsoft platform. Typically, these solutions are highly complex, requiring integration with existing legacy-based host applications and mainstream ERP environments.

"Because of the scale of these Microsoft implementations, it is critical that AST keeps up to date through conferences such as Tech-Ed," adds Parker. "Our success in this area depends on strong capabilities in, and in-depth knowledge of, implementation methodologies, architecture, project management, integration, business analysis, systems analysis, development and infrastructure skills on the Microsoft platform."

AST Enterprise Systems Management (ESM) will also exhibit at Tech-Ed, with its Quest Software products for Microsoft Infrastructure Management. The Quest software allows organisations to confidently manage business-critical Microsoft infrastructures and applications. AST ESM`s solutions enhance the performance and simplify the administration of Windows, Exchange, Active Directory and SQL Server.

Quest`s Microsoft Infrastructure Management suite also allows organisations to save money, by means of server consolidation, simplification of active directory administration, reduction of migration risk, time and expense and the rapid diagnosis and solving of problems.

At last year`s Tech-Ed, AST Distributed Technology Services (DTS) successfully migrated more than 1 million users on a test bed production simulation system within three days. The users were migrated from Windows NT4 to Active Directory over the duration of the conference. AST DTS will once again be at Tech-Ed, showcasing its capabilities in the managed desktop and distributed services environment.
