AST to provide Diners Club with PKI security solution

Diners Club SA has appointed AST Security Management, a business unit of the AST Group, to implement Entrust`s public-key infrastructure solution for its Purchasing System. Entrust PKI will provide the Diners Club Purchasing System with a 128-bit encryption, digital certificates and PIN numbers for secure access.

Using Entrust`s PKI data encryption solution with digital certificates, through AST Security Management, Diners will be able to provide greater security while meeting requirements for non-repudiation. It will also integrate all buyers and suppliers under a single system.

The Diners Club Purchasing System harnesses the Internet`s B2B potential, enabling large companies to streamline their structures with lower overheads. "Each approved buyer within the company is issued with a digital certificate identifying the user and his spending limit. This allows for greater budgetary control," points out Joe Torlage, Operation Director for Diners Club SA.

Entrust`s PKI provides a highly trusted infrastructure for issuing and managing digital certificates. "The Entrust digital certificate is a digital `passport` that strongly binds transacting parties to a transaction," explains Michael Horn, GM of AST Security Management. "Through the digital certificates, Diners will be able to establish and maintain their brand and affinity with their clients, through the issuance of Entrust digital certificates."
