AST to supply 37 ATMs to Bank Windhoek

Johannesburg, 29 Oct 2003

AST Group has been awarded the contract to supply 37 Wincor Nixdorf ProCash 2150 Multifunction ATMs to Bank Windhoek, a leading financial institution in Namibia. Bank Windhoek has a network of 24 branches, 11 service points and 50 ATMs.

The contract represents the first phase in a project aimed at replacing the bank`s ageing OS/2-based NCR and Fujitsu ATMs.

According to Andre Barnard, Bank Windhoek`s Senior Executive Officer, the decision to go for the Wincor Nixdorf solution proposed by AST was based on improved business value. This has been delivered from the enhanced functionality of the ProCash 2150 ATM. It provides a lower cost of ownership, which combined with high levels of reliability and availability, is customised to a financial institution`s specific requirements.

"AST has a national footprint in Namibia that enables us to deliver tailor-made maintenance and support services to the bank," explains Gert Scholtz, MD of AST Namibia. "In addition, there is an excellent cultural fit between three organisations - Bank Windhoek, Wincor Nixdorf and AST, which will lead to a long and stable relationship."

The units to be supplied to Bank Windhoek are ProCash 2150 Multifunction ATMs, incorporating A4 thermal printer, which will enable the client to print detailed account statements. These machines comply with EMV Level 1 requirements and will enable the bank to offer `value-add` transactions, which fit its customer profile.

The contract also includes the implementation of Wincor Nixdorf`s ProView as the terminal monitoring and management solution.
