Creating a wireless public folder to share information between multiple users is now possible with a new product introduced by Asus.
The product is an attempt to expand the traditional range of wireless devices beyond access points (APs), client adaptors and routers.
The Asus WL-HDD wireless hard drive box combines data storage, file sharing and wireless connection into a single device, enabling up to four users to save and share data wirelessly at 54Mbps, using 802.11g technology.
Hektor Tung, Asus wireless business director, says the WL-HDD is similar to a public folder in a conventional LAN, but without the hassle of connecting cables. He says the WL-HDD can also act as an AP for the wireless LAN.
