Taiwan-based motherboard manufacturer, Asus has launched two new server motherboards in anticipation of consumer demand for single rack (1U) server applications.

William Tsai, Asus SA marketing specialist, says the new PSCH-SR provides a flexible storage IO interface including single-channel Ultra320 SCSI, Serial ATA and pure IDE options.

"It`s perfect for applications such as storage servers and front-end servers used for things like Web, mail, cache and firewalls."

Tsai says a second new motherboard, the PCH-DR, supports a dual Xeon 3.2GHz processor with 533MHz FSB and L3 1MB cache. "The PCH-DR offers excellent processing power and affordable total cost of ownership."

Asus recently established a local office to provide greater accessibility for the South African market to the company`s range of IT products, including components, such as motherboards, VGA graphic cards and optical drives, products, such as the Asus Access Point and Wireless card, and system products.

Before the establishment of the South African Asus office, many components had been available only as part of locally branded products.
