AT&T advances game development

US exclusivity holder for the iPhone AT&T has been chatting with IndustryGamers about the company's interest in the gaming sector, writes Pocket Gamer.

AT&T executive director of gaming, Glenn Broderick, revealed the company's intention to relaunch its game section with a 'three screen focus'.

"My gaming team was formed in 2007 to figure out what to do with these tens of millions of connections with respect to gaming," Broderick explains.

Gaming hits the cloud

Physical media and dedicated gaming consoles, we are told, are dying breeds. And the prime suspect for their expected demise is 'the ', says Game Hub.

Cloud gaming is on its way and may shake up the gaming world for all of us, so we're taking a look into this to see exactly what it is, and what it means for the gaming community.

The cloud is already present in most of daily life - every time you check your Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail e-mails via a Web browser, you're accessing, retrieving and interacting with them stored in the cloud.

Nintendo tops developers list

A newly released annual list of the world's top fifty game developers has been published by Game Developer Research, listing the best game makers by number of studios, 2008 sales and Metacritic ratings, reports Play.tm.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Nintendo came out on top of the list, ahead of Blizzard, Ubisoft Montreal, Rockstar North, EA Canada, Konami, Valve, Epic, EA Tiburon and Treyarch.

Some 600 developers were also asked their views when the list was being compiled - in order to gain insider views on some of the biggest brands in gaming.
