AT&T battles with customer satisfaction

Consumer Reports released its annual survey in which AT&T received poor rankings among major phone carriers in the US, reports TopNews.

The survey from 26 cities polled 50 000 readers, and AT&T got the lowest ranking for customer satisfaction. The carrier received an 'above average' ranking for Web access and texting services.

Some 54% of the respondents say they were “very” or “completely” satisfied with their mobile phone service, with nearly 33 000 saying they had “at least one major complaint” against AT&T.

Multi-channel Internet smartphone unveiled

Korean-based mobile operator KT has unveiled a new Samsung Electronics handset with powerful wireless Internet capability, reports The Korea Times.

The third-generation smartphone, dubbed Show Omnia, is claimed to be the world's first mobile phone to support WiFi, WCDMA and WiBro (wireless broadband), the local variant of mobile WiMax.

KT hopes that Show Omnia becomes one half of its smartphone line-up along with the Apple iPhone, as it looks to gain on its bitter industry rival SK Telecom in the mobile market.

Virgin Media brings 7Mbps broadband

Virgin Media has rolled out a new mobile service which will provide 7Mbps speed to subscribers, making it one of the quickest ways to get online while on the move in the UK, reports IT Pro Portal.

The media broadband wireless adapter will offer double the capacity of what was offered earlier by the mobile broadband service provider. The device also comes with a Micro SD card slot and is up for sale on an 18-month contract.

The company clarified in a statement that the users will not be getting exactly 7Mbps speed, but that the speed is based on the geographical environment and distance from a mobile tower.
