AT&T resolves glitch

AT&T has resolved a network glitch that caused some mobile customers to log into Facebook accounts belonging to complete strangers, reports The Register.

"In a limited number of instances, a server software connectivity error resulted in some AT&T customers being logged into the wrong Facebook account when they accessed Facebook through their mobile phones," an AT&T spokesman said via e-mail.

"This error impacted the subscriber identification information used to automatically log-on the Facebook user if a current cookie was not available.”

Versace plans fashion cellphone

Iconic Italian fashion house Versace will introduce its first Versace-branded mobile phone hardware in May, says DigitalTrends.

Donatella Versace created the mobile handset with French manufacturer ModeLabs Group SA. Reports say the new Versace cellphone will retail for more than Christian Dior's 2008 cellphone, which costs 3 500 euros, or about $5 000.

“Before, brands couldn't imagine that a luxury telephone was possible,” says ModeLabs chief executive St'ephane Bohbot. “Now, limited and customised design have created a new interest for brands in telephones.”

Intel eyes home energy management

Intel has designs on the nascent home energy management business, following Google, Microsoft, Apple, Panasonic, and dozens of smaller tech companies, writes CNet.

Intel last week unveiled a Web site dedicated to its Home Dashboard Concept, a touch-screen display designed to help families control and reduce energy use.

The Atom-based device will let people record video messages to other family members and, through third-party applications, let people look up information on online yellow pages or track packages over the Internet.

Bill Gates now on Twitter

Bill Gates is now on Twitter - the real Bill Gates, not an impostor, states MSNBC.

Gates, Microsoft's co-founder, joined the ranks of those on the microblogging site, where posts are limited to 140 characters, on Tuesday with this tweet: "'Hello World.' Hard at work on my foundation letter - publishing on 1/25."

Gates remains part-time chairman of the software giant after stepping down as CEO in mid-2008 to devote his time to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a philanthropic effort devoted to improving health and education worldwide.
