ATEC identifies opportunity in biometric access control at IFSEC 2012

The integration of biometric technology with security systems is on the increase, as more users look to leverage off innovation within identification infrastructure in order to improve access control.

It is this trend and related technology that ATEC Systems and Technologies (ATEC), a national ICT and software company focused on telecommunications, security and management systems, emphasised at the IFSEC South Africa 2012 security industry conference, held recently.

The conference and annual security event is in its 17th year, and took place in mid-June at the Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand, Johannesburg.

ATEC is positioned at the forefront of telecommunication networks and security solution development, integration and support. The company is focused on the roll-out of a comprehensive offering to the market that includes VOIP, telephone and fax, Internet connectivity and IPTV.

Security solutions incorporate access control solutions and the integrated Visitor Management System.

At IFSEC, the company unveiled the ATEC Visitor Management System, based on current and established access control technologies such as IMPRO and SOFTCON.

The system incorporates the i-Dentifid pre-clearance software package and fully integrated i-Dentifid licence scanner that offers seamless control over visitor access control.

In practice, the system enrols or registers a vehicle using biometric technology and then integrates with the fingerprint access control system. Once cleared, access is then provided to the premises.

This also takes the authority away from the guard to be able to open or close booms.

The i-Dentifid licence scanners and integration ability is exclusive to ATEC, and offers electronic visitor management along with a range of scanning and recording possibilities.

“We provide a complete managed network solution to ensure proper layer 2 separation of access control, CCTV and any other functionality required. A full e-State solution for last mile Internet, telephony and IPTV services also form part of the offering.

The IFSEC conference has provided us with a credible and effective platform from which to demonstrate the value in partnering with a credible, one-stop telecoms and security service provider,” says Louis Parker, CEO of ATEC.
