Novell Africa has welcomed Ghana-based Atlantic Computer Training (ACT Ghana Ltd) on board its Business Partner programme.
"ACT Ghana has been active in the field of software training and consulting services since 1993, when it was formed as a division of Atlantic Computers and Electronics to offer a software training service to customers," explains Graham Hallworth, Novell channel regional manager for sub-Saharan Africa.
"The division became an autonomous company in 1995, operating under German/Ghanaian management. Today, ACT Ghana offers specialised training and advice in a wide range of IT areas, including LAN and WAN management and administration, software development, Internet/intranet design and implementation, Web page development and computer-aided design."
"As a Novell Business Partner, we have access to essential information and training materials," says ACT Ghana managing director Kevin Stepper. "We are firm supporters of Novell`s networking products and believe absolutely in their reliability and stability."
Stepper adds that the company has recently applied to become a Novell Authorised Education Centre (NAEC). "We operate with a team of two employed software trainers and several freelancers," he explains. "All our software trainers are university graduates. While they all have a broad knowledge of software applications, they do not specialise in more than three applications each. Our LAN and WAN trainers hold an industry-recognised trainer certification, and are either Certified Novell Engineers (CNE) or hold other vendor-specific qualifications."
ACT Ghana is a registered corporate member of the London-based Institute for the Management of Information Systems (IMIS). As an Authorised Sylvan Prometric Testing Centre (APTC) and MOUS Testing Centre the company offers professional and internationally recognised certifications.
Apart from training many individuals, ACT Ghana has provided training and support to various organisations and corporations in Ghana. These include Amnesty International, BASF Ghana, British Airways, the German Embassy, Gold Coast Motors, The World Bank and World Vision International.
"We are pleased to have ACT Ghana on board the PartnerNet programme," says Hallworth. "Our Business Partners are key to Novell`s success in sub-Saharan Africa and play a vital role in our efforts to develop and support the channel."
