Atos KPMG Consulting`s KC Learning: A corporate college with a difference

Johannesburg, 04 Apr 2003

KC Learning, the training division of Atos KPMG Consulting, provides education for individuals and organisations requiring practical business skills. Through KC Learning, Atos KPMG Consulting shares its consulting methodologies with learners in theoretical as well as practical sessions. The focus of this corporate college is geared towards empowering employees with business and management skills through tailored business training.

Says Vera Massyn, manager of KC Learning: "KC Learning`s courses and training programmes will equip clients with the latest business thinking. Our courses are based on practical business consulting experience gained over many years of implementation at organisations of all sizes and in all sectors."

KC learning`s core courses range from Business Performance Improvement, Project Management, Change Management, Supply Chain Management and Package Integration Manager, to an International Consulting Skills Workshop and Presentation Skills.

"Our aim is to empower organisations with first-hand knowledge of management consulting so that they can work together with us on projects to achieve sustainable business results. In so doing, we share our practical experience with them," adds Massyn.

The theoretical and practical components of learning and testing are meaningfully linked, ensuring there is no gap between the theory of what is taught and practical application. In addition, participants will have a clear plan of action for implementation after completion of the training programme. Case studies and syndicates are used extensively throughout the learning process and assessment of learners is based on what they demonstrate rather than their theoretical knowledge.

Teams of facilitators combining experience with those that are currently working on similar projects in the field present the courses. Learners are thus left with a practical approach that is in use on a daily basis, and not just a theoretical approach that requires many more hours of study before permitting practical application.

Courses, using the current facilitators, have been run successfully in Africa, Europe and the Far East, and thus bring international best practice to course participants.

The training programme complies with the National Qualification Framework and the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). In addition, KC Learning has recorded its short courses with SAQA and also registered the courses with the Services Seta and received `Interim Registration` status.
