Atos Origin, an international IT service company, supports the 11th Safaricom Marathon as co-sponsor. The event will take place in Kenya's Lewa Wildlife Conservancy on 26 June 2010 and is regarded as one of the endurance marathons in the world, open for runners of all abilities, from amateurs to professionals.
The primary aim is to raise charitable funds to support a wide range of community, conservation, education, and healthcare projects situated in Northern Kenya.
“The Safaricom Marathon is a perfect combination of charity and a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the participants,” says Winfried Holz, CEO of Atos Origin GCEMA. “As part of our strategy to improve our business in Africa, we strengthen our engagement in one of the most important African markets,” says Adrian Ralph, COO of Atos Origin South Africa.
Atos Origin provides a set of IT services for Kenya's leading mobile network operator, including customer management applications and payment solutions. “The Lewa Safaricom Marathon is part of our sponsoring strategy to make positive contributions to communities in direct ways, through value added services and financial support for community projects,” says Michael Joseph, CEO of Safaricom. “We are glad that Atos Origin supports this strategy by co-sponsoring this event.”
