Attachmate, the provider of enterprise legacy access and management solutions, has launched NetWizard Professional v5.1, a rapid deployment, enterprise desktop management system.
Theo Fourie, country manager at Attachmate in SA, says NetWizard features integrated functionality for desktop software and hardware inventory, software distribution and installation, usage metering, licence administration, remote control and policy management.
Designed for complex, geographically distributed organisations, NetWizard Professional scales to accommodate multiple desktops.
NetWizard Professional v5.1 features include:
* Microsoft Windows XP compatibility;
* Microsoft Active Directory support;
* Wake On LAN support;
* Collects, displays and exports Windows Management Instrumentation inventory data;
* Command-line build support for distribution and launch of Windows Installer applications;
* Enhanced Manager supports multi-package, simultaneous distributions; and
* The PC Magazine Editor`s Choice award-winning RemotelyAnywhere component.
Fourie says: "Compatibility with Windows XP lets organisations take full advantage of the operating system`s functionality. Microsoft Active Directory support allows NetWizard Professional to detect whether a network client (NetWizard Agent) is already part of an Active Directory organisational structure, and automatically maps and integrates this existing structure onto the NetWizard management interface."
NetWizard supports the Microsoft Management Console. From a centralised interface, administrators can launch and edit data presented by the console`s snap-in utilities.
Fourie adds: "Typical enterprise environments are complex, involving thousands of desktops running a variety of applications on multiple versions of operating platforms - and each requires constant monitoring and software upgrades. NetWizard Professional addresses this complexity with scalable, centralised control, saving time and money for organisations."
Seamlessly integrated into NetWizard is RemotelyAnywhere, which PC Magazine (July 2002) describes as "the best choice for help desk staff and network administrators ... with nearly every administrative tool you could ask for and extensive security features".
When installed, RemotelyAnywhere makes PCs accessible from any browser-enabled device (phone or PDA are supported) for remote administration, including reboots. FTP Server and support for SSH and SSL encryption are also included.
