Aucor is the fastest

Johannesburg, 03 Oct 2000

Auction web-site, Aucor, launched at an initial cost of R2 million during 1999, has been hailed as the fastest e-commerce web-site in South Africa following research conducted by independent e-commerce research company, IP-Man.

This was confirmed by Craig Levy, operations consultant at leading Provider (ISP), Pro Business Online, part of the JSE-listed Control Instruments group - and the company responsible for setting up, running and developing the auctioneer`s web-site.

Levy said IP-Man conducted its survey on-line to find out which local web-site was the fastest. Including in the research criteria was the requirement that the web-site had to use a recognised ISP with adequate speed and bandwidth, and that it enjoyed enough connection points into the SA peering point. The research company also took into account what type of hardware the web-site had deployed and how the system was designed.

"Aucor was ranked as the e-commerce web-site that boasted the fastest download times consistently," said Levy.

With more than 300 000 different items now for sale on-line at Aucor, Levy said his company used the latest technology to "deliver a robust, flexible and fast technology platform".

The Aucor auction engine is also used by the Independent Online news portal, as well as Standard Bank auctions.
