Launched in 1999 after an investment of R2 million, aucoractive.co.za, SA`s leading online auction site, has undergone a complete revamp. The new look, designed by DataPro`s electronic marketing division, comes after two months of development work and gives the popular Web site "a totally new look and feel - and added functionality".
This is according to Maggie Cubitt, head of electronic marketing at DataPro, who said the site is currently recording up to 20 000 unique visitors per month, and millions of hits each year. Back in 1999 the Web site was already recording an average of 6 000 visits to its Web site on a daily basis.
Cubitt said one of the more significant additions to the site is a bulk upload facility. This functionality will allow visitors to upload multiple auctions in a simple Excel spreadsheet format. Yet another added feature is the "Star Seller" section, where a "Star Seller" can load auctions on behalf of sellers who do not have access or knowledge to do so themselves. This is done for a small recommended fee and the "Star Sellers" get a percentage of Aucor`s commission.
Aucor`s online auction platform is currently powering sites such as Ananzi Auctions, MSN Auctions, iolauctions, funnelauctions and MWebauctions. The site is believed to be the country`s biggest online auctioneer with thousands of products on sale, ranging from cameras and computers to big ticket items such as cars.
