In a five-year framework contract, Audi has chosen Siemens Communications as its partner for mobile telephony. Special service centres - known as MobilityShops - have been set up exclusively for employees of the German-based car manufacturer.
Located at Audi sites in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm, the MobilityShops are staffed by specialist personnel provided by Siemens to handle contracts, the ordering, issue and configuration of mobile phones, as well as other services such as exchange and repair, where a permanent pool of replacement phones is kept.
Phones offered include all Siemens mobile phones certificated by Audi, such as the SP65 and the A65, and in future, new Siemens mobile phones will be handed over to Audi for certification prior to their market launch. For security reasons though, the range of products focuses on high-end mobile phones without built-in cameras. New Siemens mobile phones like the AX75 will be also available to Audi for certification - and therefore to employees - even before they're officially launched on the market.
