Aurora awarded for Stellent deployment
The US Centre for Digital Government has honoured the Minnesota-based City of Aurora (with a population of over 300 000) with the "2006 Digital Government Achievement Award" for helping to provide the public with timely access to documents and records.
Aurora deployed a StellentUniversal content management system (CMS), which, according to a Stellent statement, "consolidates and delivers information from six internal systems".
One application is explained in the statement: "Once a user enters a valid city address, Aurora Connect - via an integration between the Stellent system and a geographic information system - publishes or makes available for download public records, interactive satellite maps, business licences, zoning codes, and political, neighbourhood, school district, public safety and building permit information specific to that location."
Web content flexibility essential
CMS vendor CrownPeak has announced the results of a study conducted with King Research, which shows it is essential for companies to increase their ability to make changes to Web content.
"The study found that significant improvements are needed in content management approaches for large Web sites," notes CrownPeak in a press release.
While the benefits of using a CMS were widely embraced, respondents that use a hosted content management system were more satisfied with their content management systems than any other participant category, adds CrownPeak.
Immediacy releases document management system
Immediacy has launched its first enterprise class document management system (DMS), which provides organisations with a way to capture, store, manage, search and deliver their business critical documents.
According to the Gilbane Report, it is "designed to eliminate the complexities associated with traditional ECM systems and encourage user adoption by providing non-technical users with a simple-to-use toolset to manage documents."
It is based on the .Net 2.0 framework architecture and supports the latest protocols, including Web-based distributed authoring and versioning.
