USAASA is the founder member and the holder of the Second Vice Chair of the African Universal Service and Access Funds Association (UASAFA), and will also participate in various discussions regarding the role of the organisation in the African continent. Some of the key issues that are up for discussion include membership, registration of AUSAFA, funding requirements, frequency of meetings, corporate identity and projects that member states are currently rolling out as part of their respective funds.
The executive structure of AUSAFA since it was established on 10 December 2008 comprises Mr Bob Lyazi (Uganda, RCDF) as Chairperson, Mr Phineas Moleele (South Africa - USAASA) - Second Vice-Chairperson, and Mr Kofi Attor (Ghana - GIFEC) as first Vice Chairperson. A total of 15 African countries, mostly part of CTO, are also part of AUSAFA.
USAASA's role as Second Vice Chairman of AUSAFA is anticipated to help contribute and play a key role in shaping the future path the association will follow, particularly assistance on establishing the operations of the association and facilitating the drive for membership, among others.
The agency will provide a detailed report in the upcoming weeks, with regards to the outcomes of this international conference, on our Web site.
