Autodesk is the world`s leading supplier of PC design and geographic information systems (GIS) software and digital content creation tools. One of the largest software companies in the world, Autodesk has more than four million customers in over 150 countries.
Held for the previous three years by Siltek Limited, the Autodesk distributorship for Africa has changed hands following a strategic refocusing of the Siltek group`s global operations. Rob Matthews, managing director of Siltek, confirms that his group is positioning itself as a major force in the global multi-billion dollar IT supply chain. "We have taken the decision, in consultation with Autodesk, to move out of this specialist design field." Errol Ashwell, managing director of Autodesk Africa, comments: "We looked for a partner that will provide the strong, flexible backbone that our customers and reseller partners depend on to innovate, compete and succeed. With CMS` proven track record in our niche markets, we believe that we have found this. The breadth and depth of their focused, specialist expertise fits in with the Autodesk philosophy. We look forward to working with the WorldsView team, which intimately understands the particular needs of our customers and our strategies, and know that we will jointly provide the design community with the sophisticated design and GIS solutions required in Africa today."
Craig Yeatman, chairman of the CMS group, confirms that WorldsView looks forward to the challenge of taking the Autodesk business forward into the new millennium. "The CMS group has been involved with Autodesk for some seven years, and during this time has demonstrated the required understanding of Autodesk`s vision and the needs of its end users. Driven by talented leaders who are committed to the success of both Autodesk and its customers, WorldsView is an expression of our faith in Africa`s design and GIS communities."
Autodesk`s product range has evolved from a technical design base into a new generation of business solutions across the broad spectrum of industries. From sales and marketing, design, engineering and manufacturing, to purchasing, customer service and maintenance, Autodesk software is able to offer an enterprise an interoperable continuum of design information.
