BenQ has announced the appointment of its second projector distributor in the South African region, AV Officeware. The appointment is part of an aggressive drive to market BenQ projectors in the South African market.
Manish Bakshi, GM: MEA at BenQ, says the appointment was made through existing distributor, Frog AV.
"Frog AV has a long and extensive relationship with the projector market in SA. It has created a defined space for big name brands like LG and, with the appointment of AV Officeware, aims to do the same with the BenQ product," he says.
According to Martin Joubert, sales director at Frog AV, the alliance will allow the two companies to combine shipments to bring in higher volumes. This will enable them to negotiate better pricing, which, in turn, will ensure BenQ projector pricing is more aggressive in the marketplace.
"In addition, AV Officeware`s regional branch infrastructure will allow BenQ to cover more ground with direct sales through their different sales centres," he says. "We will have more feet on the ground. This will enable more direct sales into the corporate and dealer market, thus facilitating the delivery of more effective and comprehensive after-sales service."
Frog AV will remain the authorised service centre for warranty repairs on BenQ projectors and will carry stock on all spares and lamps for the various models imported. The service centre is based in Centurion, Pretoria, and employs qualified technicians to do both component and board level repairs on the BenQ projectors.
Paul Murray, national sales manager at AV Officeware, says: "We believe this move will be a major boost to our projector arsenal. BenQ offers everything necessary to make a significant impact into the projector industry."
