Filling the ever-growing content management (CM) niche, Avantstar and Computrolley have joined forces, with the latter taking on the role of exclusive distributor of three of the Avantstar software packages.

With a growing number of file types and channels opened up by the Internet, CM technology has evolved considerably, and so too have the tools used, says Simon Campbell-Young, MD of Computrolley. "Businesses are increasingly looking for tools to facilitate CM and to this end Avantstar software, available through Computrolley, have released three CM packages aimed at equipping companies of all sizes with the tools for cost-effective CM."

A myriad of files, including spreadsheets, video, audio and Web-pages, all contain the content, that offers companies strategic advantage. The ability to disseminate this critical information is a key initiative for many customers.

Avantstar effectively services this requirement as a software company with a focus on the digital content viewing, content conversion and CM markets which aims to bring reliable and innovative solutions to small to medium businesses as well as corporate markets.

Avantstar has released three products through Computrolley with the first being Quick View Plus that makes universal information access a reality. By providing instant access to information created in over 225 Windows, Macintosh, Internet and DOS formats, Quick View Plus enables employees to access information from virtually any source.

As native applications are not needed to open files, Quick View Plus reduces costs, simplifies deployment and improves security. Quick View Plus allows users efficiently work with information by providing a consistent environment for viewing, copying, printing and searching for information. All tools needed to access and control information are provided.

Computrolley also distributes Site Magic, a Web site building tool. This package turns business documents into professional-looking sites quickly and easily, and is particularly beneficial to small businesses.

"Site Magic offers small business owners the tools to create and deploy a professional and content-rich Web site without employing design professionals," says Campbell-Young. "It offers an easy, six-step wizard-based creation process, enabling anyone familiar with Microsoft Word to use Site Magic to create an effective business page."

Site Magic simply uses the content from existing Microsoft Word files as the foundation of the Web site. This software enables users to create a site without the need for knowledge of HTML or Web programming languages. The user controls the look and feel of the site and the layout can easily be customised using templates and themes available in the package.

The third Avantstar product available through Computrolley is Transit Solutions. This package offers an effective way to create and maintain Web sites quickly and at a relatively low cost. Transit Solutions deliver fast prototyping, proofing, deployment and automated revision of corporate portals, business-to-business or business-to-customer Web sites.

"Automated site maintenance saves businesses both time and money," Campbell-Young states. "Contributions are made to the Web using standard business tools without needing to understand HTML and no client training or software is necessary."
