Avaya appoints Carlos Sartorius as EMEA president

Avaya Inc, a leading global provider of business communication applications, systems and services has announced the appointment of Carlos Sartorius as president of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

Sartorius will support the development of Avaya`s overall business in EMEA and lead the organisation to support customers` migration to IP telephony and the next phases of incorporating intelligent communications into their businesses. He will report to Dave Johnson, senior vice-president and president, Avaya International. Sartorius` appointment is effective immediately.

Sartorius joins Avaya after an executive career at Motorola. Most recently, he was vice-president and general manager, Government and Enterprise Mobility Solutions, where he led operations for its EMEA region. He has more than 20 years experience in leadership positions in sales, systems engineering, programme management and marketing, with emphasis on developing markets and establishing sales strategies.

Sartorius` extensive international experience started with Motorola in Mexico. Since then he has worked in the United States, Japan, Singapore, Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. He is a member of the Program Management Institute and the German American Chamber of Commerce.

Fluent in English, Spanish and German, Sartorius graduated from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico, earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) in communications systems.
