Avaya customers sweep excellence awards

Johannesburg, 13 Aug 2008

The recent BPO Sector awards in KwaZulu-Natal saw no fewer than 13 out of the 15 of the prestigious awards being bestowed on current Avaya customers.

Hosted at the ICC in KwaZulu-Natal, the awards are touted as the BPO industry Oscars, and recognise business, service and technology excellence in a number of categories.

With KwaZulu-Natal leaving many of the other provinces behind as the outsource location of choice, the event highlighted the commitment both of many private sector companies, as well as the provincial government, to the development of the province as a leading BPO destination.

This year saw a resounding victory for Avaya customers, who walked away with nearly every single award. Winners spanned individuals working within Avaya-powered contact centre environments, right though to those involved with technologies, best practice service levels and the prestigious Technical Innovation of the Year Award.

"These awards are a highlight on the Avaya calendar and the near clean sweep our customers made at this year's event is testimony to the hard work and dedication put in from our team and partners in the KZN province," states Bridget Kelly, country manager at Avaya sub-Saharan Africa.

The BPeSA KZN Avaya winners include:

Regional Award The CEO Award went to Murray Donkin from Nedbank, Sales Agent of the Year awarded to Shoukath Alli from Nedbank, CallForce Direct Customer Service Agent of the Year awarded to Natasha Ramlugan from Nedbank, Supervisor of the Year awarded to Zainool Bux from the Rewardsco Contact Centre, Manager of the Year awarded to Parries Chetty from Cell C, Trainer of the Year (internal/in-house) awarded to Shantelle Lawrence from Nedbank, Best QA Support Professional awarded to Trisha Reddy from the Rewardsco Contact Centre, Best IT Support Professional awarded to Sagren Naidoo from Direct Channel Holdings KZN, 30x30 Best SA Customer Service Centre awarded to Cell C, Best Technical Innovation of the Year (Vendor Solution) awarded to Daly Contact Centre, MBD Holding Best Outbound Campaign awarded to Direct Channel Holdings KZN, Best Offshore Business Processing Centre/Contact Centre awarded to BizWorks, and AON South Africa Best Design & Wellness Incorporated Centre awarded to Nedbank.

Out of 15 awards, only two were not for contact centres powered by Avaya Technologies. All of the provincial winners are automatically entered into the national finals, the winners of which stand a chance to enter the international EMEA awards.

"Avaya has taken great care and pride in getting closer to its customers, and as a result, has managed to grow its local market share significantly, even in light of tough market conditions and longer sales cycles. We are very proud of our customers and their employees. We would like to congratulate them on their achievements specifically in light of the tough competition," ends Kelly.
