Avaya offers visitors chance to win Avaya Wireless Residential Gateways during Gitex 2001

Johannesburg, 12 Oct 2001

Avaya, a global leader in corporate communications networking solutions and services, will give away three Avaya Wireless Residential Gateways 1 (RG-1) at a business card raffle taking place on the last day of GITEX 2001 at the Seven Seas stand (Hall 7, stand R7-1).

According to Walter Koenig, Avaya`s regional managing director, Middle East, North Africa and South Eastern Europe, the Avaya Wireless Residential Gateway is an essential part of the Small Office & Home (SOHO) Solution.

"This high-speed networking system provides wireless connectivity to Internet Service Providers. It is typically used by small offices and home users, who can share network services from anywhere in the home or small office environment," said Koenig.

The RG-1 acts as a central base station for multiple wireless users utilising the Avaya Wireless PC Card or USM Client. Remote Network Access can be provided via the built-in 56k modem or by the Ethernet port, which connects to broadband cable, xDSL or ISDN services. Additionally, since the RG-1 includes DHCP, it automatically configures the IP addresses for users accessing the network.
