Avaya showcases Enterprise Class IP communications solutions at Comdex 2001 Saudi Arabia

Johannesburg, 19 Apr 2001

Avaya, a global leader in business communications solutions and services, and Saudi Arabian BusinessPartner, Jeraisy Computer and Communication Services (JCCS), will demonstrate Avaya`s Enterprise Class IP Solutions (ECLIPS) at COMDEX 2001 Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom`s only business-to-business computer, Internet and networking exhibition. As part of the Avaya ECLIPS family, Avaya`s IP600 Internet Protocol Communications Server, Cajun P330 Data Switch and DEFINITY Enterprise Communications Server (ECS), all designed to help businesses thrive in an e-business environment, will be showcased at the event, taking place at Jeddah International Exhibition Centre from April 16-19.

+ACI-We believe that the demand for IP telephony will undoubtedly soar with the anticipated four-fold increase in Internet access expected in Saudi Arabia by the end of the year,+ACI- said Walter Koenig, Avaya`s regional managing director, Middle East, North Africa and South Eastern Europe. +ACI-Saudi enterprises making the transition towards becoming e-businesses can benefit from deploying Avaya IP solutions, as they meet the essential requirements of enhancing reliability, voice quality, functionality and features such as interoperability and applications richness, to help them excel in an e-business world.+ACI- The Avaya IP600 is an Avaya Labs-developed IP telephony server, which enables voice mail, conferencing, call coverage, attendant console support, multiple line appearances, bridged appearances and speed dialling to converged IP networks, without the need to install additional applications servers. It supports virtual enterprise environments and connects with Avaya and other QSIG-compliant switches over an IP network.

The Cajun P330 is designed to resolve the explosive bandwidth needs and alleviate ongoing demands facing network managers as they wrestle with the daily challenges associated with the convergence of data, voice, video and e-business applications across enterprise networks. This switch is geared for enterprises which typically have rapidly-changing needs from the desktop to the backbone, and supports applications such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), mixed media collaboration and streaming video.

Avaya`s DEFINITY Enterprise Communications Server (ECS) is the company`s flagship communications server. It supports up to 25,000 telephones and can function as a telephone feature server on a local area network (LAN) accommodating real-time multimedia calling and messaging.

Using a DEFINITY IP system, a business can leverage its investments in existing voice and data networks, business applications, human resources and training by operating as an IP `gateway` and as a `gatekeeper`. +ACI-As a gateway these solutions allow voice traffic to be converted into IP packets for reliable transmission over a LAN or the Internet. Additionally, remote users can connect their laptops into any network, anywhere, and log into their system, where they can make use of all features as if they were sitting in their offices, +ACI- added Mr Koenig.

JCCS is one of the largest IT companies operating in the country and has been an Avaya BusinessPartner since 1996. According to Ibrahim Al-Moaiqel, Chief Executive Officer, the association with Avaya offers customers a number of benefits. +ACI-Customers of JCCS can benefit from Avaya solutions in the area of value added services that we offer in marketing, sales, support, and maintenance,+ACI- he said.
