Security software company AVG Technologies has integrated OPSWAT's AppRemover technology into its security solutions to roll out a free utility tool, AppRemover.
Ben Kaplan, director of product management at AVG Technologies, says: “OPSWAT is already one of AVG's key technology partners, and we're very pleased to take our relationship to this next level. Adding the AppRemover utility to our product offerings will greatly reduce our support requests and empower our endpoint users.”
As part of the agreement, AVG will distribute AppRemover as a standalone application within its security offerings.
AppRemover is a free utility tool that can be downloaded off the Internet. It enables system administrators and end-users to uninstall anti-virus, anti-spyware and other applications as well as leftover files from incomplete uninstallations.
According to Tom Mullen, vice-president of business development at OPSWAT, the utility is suited for security software and technology vendors looking to add an uninstall feature to their product.
“Uninstalling anti-virus applications can be fraught with difficulty. AppRemover answers market demand for an easy-to-use program that eliminates superfluous files and registry keys left by various IT security solutions,” he says.
“AppRemover significantly reduces support cases associated with implementing user upgrades and competitive replacements and will help any users looking to upgrade to the latest version of AVG's products,” adds Mullen.
