Avnet appoints Taylor

According to ARNnet, Avnet Technology Solutions has hired Shayne Taylor to lead the distributor's new networking and security division as business unit executive.

The new division was formed after the distributor's acquisition of ChannelWorx in November last year.

Taylor's appointment follows the departure of former ChannelWorx MD Paul Oxley, who will leave Avnet after guiding the organisation through the integration process.

Juniper Networks, a provider of high performance networking, has been named as Networking Vendor of the Year at the inaugural Channel Middle East Awards, states Al-Bawaba.

Judges highlighted the strength in Juniper's product training, industry specialisation, rewards and incentives, and high-performance network infrastructure solutions.

The award was presented during a gala dinner and awards ceremony held in Dubai on 25 March.

Demonstrating its continued value and commitment to the K-12 education market, Cisco has outlined how school district customers are using their networks as platforms for enriching the learning environment, enhancing student performance, improving safety, and reducing operating expenses while preparing students for the future, says CNN Money.

Increasingly, K-12 schools are recognising the value of using the network as a platform for innovative forms of education and communication, said Marie Hattar, VP of network systems and security marketing for Cisco.

As new media-rich, bandwidth-intensive education, safety and administration applications are developed, schools are realising they need infrastructures with the performance, reliability and flexibility these new tools require.
