Axiom Systems to distribute Computer Associates` COOL: tools

By Computer Associates Africa
Johannesburg, 02 Nov 2000

Computer Associates Africa has announced that an agreement has been reached with Axiom Systems for the distribution of the COOL application development tools that fell into the CA stable with the 1999 acquisition of Sterling Software.

According to Dan van der Westhuizen, managing director of CA Africa, Axiom Systems has been selected to distribute COOL: 2e and COOL: Plex as the company had an existing relationship with Sterling and has a successful history with the products. "Because Axiom is focused on the midrange market, and this is where the COOL products are positioned, it makes good sense to continue the relationship with the company," he says.

Keith Davies, a director at Axiom, says that the company is excited about the products and the relationship with CA: "The particular CA products that we are interested in are model-based development tools. In addition, COOL:Plex uses pattern technology to provide exceptional speed of development, reliability, consistency and ease of maintenance, making it a powerful force in this market," he declares.

"We look forward to building a positive relationship with CA. It has a wide range of products that have already put them into the boardrooms of prominent South African business. We hope to leverage that to gain access to a wider prospect base, and grow our revenue through CA`s product offering," he adds.

Van der Westhuizen notes that the addition of Axiom Systems to its distribution base puts CA in a particularly strong position in the development tools arena. "We are confident of a successful and fruitful relationship with Axiom Systems," he concludes.
