Axis climbs in global ranking

Johannesburg, 10 Oct 2006

Axis Communications, already rated as the global market leader in network video1 (Frost & Sullivan), has been ranked number 13 among the world`s security companies by A&S magazine in Asia. Axis was in the A&S top 50 last year in 24th place, so has climbed 11 positions.

The ranking is based on the financial performance of a diverse group of players, including companies in the CCTV, digital surveillance, biometrics, access control and intercom market sectors. Axis shows an increase in net sales due to the increased interest of network video following the technology shift on the market from analogue equipment to digital.

"The A&S ranking underscores our position as one of the leading security equipment providers in the world. We have previously been named technology and market leader within the field of network video and the ranking as number 13 in World`s Top 50 Security Companies illustrate the increased interest in network video," says Ray Mauritsson, CEO, Axis Communications.

Roy Alves, country manager for Axis Communications, Africa Region, comments, "It`s a positive confirmation of Axis`s growing stature in the security market. Our position in Africa has been strengthening dramatically, and the recent establishment of Axis`s subsidiary in SA can only help to drive growth further."
