Axis` day/night camera looks good, sees better

Johannesburg, 07 Feb 2006

Day or night, near or far, nothing should escape you with the latest IP video camera from Axis, the Axis 214 PTZ. The 214 is a high performance camera for professional surveillance and remote monitoring that combines a high quality colour camera with the flexibility of remote pan/tilt/zoom operations, all in an elegant housing that will not be out of place in a modern business.

The motorised lens gives you 18x optical zoom with auto focus, allowing you to zoom in on small or distant objects with exceptional clarity, and the pan/tilt agility lets you cover a wide field of view.

Roy Alves, Managing Director of SCS Distribution, exclusive distributor for Africa for Axis, said: "The 214 is a high specification camera designed for mid-sized to large businesses, such as retail stores and supermarkets, that need good quality images in a variety of conditions, with the flexibility of remote control to cover large areas, and the low cost of deployment of network video."

Low-light performance is exceptional, with automatic day/night functionality giving you full colour in low light down to 0.3 lux, and sharp black and white in very poor light down to 0.005 lux.

There is built-in two-way audio support enables remote users not only to view, but also to listen in on an area and communicate requests or orders to visitors or intruders, taking you beyond passive monitoring. Powerful on-board processing delivers full frame rate (25/30 fps) at 768x576 (4CIF) for Motion JPEG and at 704x288 (2CIF) for MPEG-4

Pre- and post-alarm image buffering, video motion detection, scheduled and triggered event functionality with alarm notification together with two-way audio makes the Axis 214 PTZ perfect for remotely monitoring people and property.
