Axis hits record high earnings

Johannesburg, 11 Aug 2005

Axis AB, recently confirmed by JP Freeman as the global market leader in network video, has achieved record high first-half earnings for the January-June 2005 period.

Net sales for the period were SEK401m (R342m), with a profit before tax of SEK55m (R47m).

Roy Alves, managing director of SCS Distribution, Axis` exclusive distributor for Africa, commented "IP Video is taking off as businesses see the advantages of carrying video over their data networks and the Internet.

"We believe that Axis`s excellent results bode well for the industry, and will ensure Axis continues to maintain their technology leadership position." Axis launched the first network camera in 1996 and has been pioneering developments in the field ever since.

A Frost & Sullivan earlier this year forecast 40% annual growth in the global network video market, which it expected would reach $1.2bn by 2010.
