Axis Communications introduces the first in a series of next-generation video products, utilising the new ARTPEC-2 video compression chip.
The AXIS 241 Video Server family offers security professionals an easy way to migrate from analogue to digital surveillance. Benefits include new features such as full frame rate - simultaneously on all channels, advanced event management, built-in video motion detection and a complete security package.
With the AXIS 241 Video Server family, Axis addresses the needs of advanced customers with professional surveillance applications based on analogue video.
Since the AXIS 241 utilises analogue signals, it is ideal for networking existing analogue systems, and thus perfect for system integrators and installers who would like to help customers with existing installations cross over to IP-based surveillance systems. With an extensive portfolio of third-party applications available, the video servers enable an easy and flexible migration from analogue to IP-based systems.
The product family initially contains two versions: AXIS 241S (single channel) and AXIS 241Q (four channels). Axis will introduce, as the next step, Blade versions for use with the AXIS Rack Solution.
Offering full frame rate simultaneously on all channels, the AXIS 241Q/S Video Servers have the ability to digitise up to four analogue video sources (in the Q version) and make this available on the network as streams of real-time Motion JPEG video. The video servers also include a comprehensive security package, with IP address filtering, HTTPS support and multi-level password protection.
Other benefits include built-in video motion detection and powerful event management based on triggered or scheduled events. The video servers allow for 10 different resolutions up to 768x576 and five different compression levels. AXIS 241Q/S will be available through SCS Distribution from March 2004.
