SCS Distribution, the sole distributor in Southern Africa for Axis Communications, today announced Axis`s new print server AXIS 5810 that considerably simplifies everyday work for mobile users. The product uses Bluetooth(tm)* technology for wireless communication, thus enabling fast and easy printing from any printer for any mobile user
"The new wireless print server opens up a range of new possibilities for mobile users travelling or working in- as well as outside their usual network," commented Roy Alves, MD of SCS Distribution.
The AXIS 5810, when connected to the printer, is instantly available for wireless printing without any need to log on to the fixed network. Printing from AXIS 5810 connected printers is handled exactly like other network printouts. The user searches for new printers through the bundled software AXIS Wireless Printing Utilities, the only required driver for this solution. Apart from the print plug the user just needs a PC card that supports Bluetooth Software Suite. AXIS 5810 can also be used, for example, together with Toshiba`s new portable computers with built-in support for Bluetooth and with Ericsson`s Bluetooth equipped mobile phones.

Bluetooth(tm)
Bluetooth wireless technology makes it possible to connect any compatible portable and stationary communication device as easily as switching on the lights, without a single inch of cable. The technology is based on a radio link that offers fast and reliable transmissions of both voice and data. Documents will be sent at a speed of 1Mbit/s and the Bluetooth wireless technology will carry up to three high-quality voice channels simultaneously. The Bluetooth wireless technology uses a globally available frequency range intended to ensure communication compatibility worldwide. The Bluetooth wireless technology is a global specification for personal area wireless connectivity.
