Axiz and the channel celebrate HP D230 unveiling

Johannesburg, 22 Oct 2003

At a series of events widely supported by the reseller channel, Axiz proudly unveiled HP`s D230 Business Desktops, recently added to the company`s product range.

The events were held at Kilimanjaro in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, at Vacca Matta in the Sun Coast Casino in Durban, and at Rhodes House in Cape Town between 2 and 8 October 2003 and close to 1,000 resellers partied the nights away with Axiz`s HP team, other staff members and management.

"The HP D230 Business Desktops are locally assembled for HP by Matomo Technologies who belong to the Proudly South African campaign," comments Patrick Reeves, product manager for the HP D230 Business Desktops at Axiz. "They represent a unrivalled opportunity for resellers to supply their customers in almost any market sector with a high-quality international brand at local-assembly prices, secure in the knowledge that, in doing so, they are supporting job creation, skills transfer and black empowerment in South Africa."

At each venue, one lucky reveler walked away with a Pentium 4 2.4GB D230 Business Desktop, with 256MB RAM, 40GB 7200rpm HDD, Windows XP Pro and a 15" monitor, based on a business card draw. Several other partygoers in each city won the Kalliba MP3 Plus integrated USB memory key and MP3 player with digital voice recorder.

Reeves concludes, "We are really proud to be associated with this brand, which is why we decided to celebrate its addition to our product range in this way. The HP D230 Business Desktops have at least as much and probably more local content as any of the South African brands available, because it uses all of the components that are being locally produced."
