Axiz has announced that LG`s first external combo drive, the GCC-5421P, is immediately available.
Philip Henning, LG product manager at Axiz, states: "The drive is both an external CD-Writer and DVD-ROM drive, supports USB 2.0 and can be used on either a notebook or a desktop PC. Weighing only 347g, the device is light, slim and ultra-stylish making it the ultimate portable external drive."
The drive functions as 24x10x24 speed in CD-R/RW mode, and at 8x when reading DVD-ROMs. It features a 2MB buffer with buffer under-run error protection and is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP, 2000, ME and Windows 98 (SE). It comes bundled with Ahead Nero Burning ROM and InCD CD/CD-RW Authoring Software, which is compatible with Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98 and NT, and Cyberlink PowerDVD MPEG 2 decoder software for DVD movie playback.
It also supports a wide range of CD and DVD media, including CD-audio, CD-extra, mixed mode, photo CD, video CD, CD-text, DVD-single/dual, DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW in read mode, while it writes in CD-ROM mode 1, CD-ROM XA, CD-audio, mixed mode, CD-I, CD-I FMV, video CD, CD-plus and CD-extra.
A USB converter cable, AC adapter and manual are supplied with the drive, which carries a recommended retail price of R1 999.
