Axiz launches camera range in response to digital camera boom

Johannesburg, 31 Aug 2005

According to the Camera and Imaging Products Association, consumer digital-camera shipments have grown 20.8% in 2005 and are estimated to reach 71.2 million worldwide in 2006 from 40.9 million units this year.

Following this significant growth, Axiz, the leading IT infrastructure distributor, has introduced a series of entry-level Acer digital cameras, the Acer CR-5130, Acer CS-5531 and Acer CR-8530, which will keep consumers up-to-date with all the latest in digital camera technology.

"The ability to share electronic images has become a very attractive feature for consumers, driving what used to be a very niche product to a major consumer category," explains Alex Morse, Acer product manager, Axiz.

"Axiz launched the new digital camera range, not only as a result of the digital camera boom, but also as part of their continued aim to meet the demands of their reseller partners and customers."

The Acer CR-5130, Acer CS-5531 and Acer CR-8530 are slim, small and easy to use, and come standard with a carry pouch, 64MB SD card, Li-ion battery, AC adapter, video and USB cable, wrist strap and NTI photo suite.

With eight different shooting modes from full automatic to full manual, the Acer CR-5130 digital camera supports special effects such as sepia, black and white or vivid colour.

"The Acer CR-5130 has five megapixels of high resolution and features a movie mode with sound recording and straight playback, which can be viewed on the camera`s LCD screen, on a PC or TV," indicates Morse.

Other standard features included with the Acer CR-5130 digital camera is the 64MB SD card that has a storage capacity of up to 140 photos, a maximum picture resolution of 2 560 x 1 920 as well as three colour, sharpness and contrast adjustment levels.

"Measuring 89 x 55mm, the Acer CS-5531 digital camera is small enough to fit into your pocket but can still capture full screen VGA 640 x 480 videos," says Morse. Featuring a 2.5-inch LTPS TFT LCD screen, this five megapixel camera comes standard with a 1/2.5-inch CCD-sensor and 100-shot battery life. "Users can also upload their pictures from the SD card and transfer them to their PC or notebook," says Morse.

The Acer CS-5531 has auto, night and manual capturing scene modes as well as single, continuous and AEB burst modes. Other features included are 3x optical lens; 4x digital zoom; auto, on, off and anti-red-eye. The Acer CS-5531 also comes complete in an aluminium casing.

Both beginner and experienced users can capture pictures with the Acer CR-8530 digital camera`s 2, 5 LCD screen or handy optical finder. "Fine detail as close as 5cm away can be captured with the camera`s Macro Mode. Users can also shoot from full automatic to full manual with the Acer CR-8530`s scene program mode," says Morse.

The Acer CR-8530 comes standard with eight megapixels of high resolution and has three sharpness, colour and contrast adjustment levels. A 64MB SD card, leather cover and USB cable also come standard with the Acer CR-8530.
