Local IT infrastructure distributor Axiz has announced the immediate availability of Lexmark`s new range of printers. The focus of the range is on fulfilling the needs of three types of consumers: SMB professionals (requiring all-in-one printers), professionals seeking security (requiring multifunction printers) and small workgroups (requiring mono page printers).
All-in-one printers have become extremely popular amongst SMB professionals. In an effort to reduce administrative time and help companies become more productive, products such as the Lexmark X7170 all-in-one provide a one-stop shop for these business owners. Tasks such as faxing, scanning, printing and copying documents have become easy and hassle free. To expand on this innovation, the Lexmark X7170 has come exclusively with Productivity Suite Software. This software enables users to convert hard copy pages into text files that can be edited; use thumbnail images and drag-and-drop functionality to print, fax, email and convert documents to another format. It also enables users to create multiple page portable document files (PDF`s); and upload images from PictBridge-enabled cameras.

Functionality includes the versatile paper handling system with 4"x6" input trays, which handle media such as transparencies, envelopes and labels; a high resolution scanner (1200 x 4800 dpi) for photographs, reports and three-dimensional objects; network support in the form of Ethernet; wireless network adapters which allow the printer to be placed anywhere in the office; a print speed of 22 pages-per-minute (ppm) in black and optional six-colour support which ensures high-resolution colour output; and fax standalone capabilities which include 100 page memory and 79 speed dials.
Multifunction printers differ from all-in-one printers for two reasons: they focus on business processes and security. The appeal of the Lexmark X830e is that when it is coupled with the correct software, an advanced workflow platform becomes evident. Oosthuizen believes that "their ease of use, security, performance and affordability combine to make these devices the most compelling in their class."
This can be seen in the Lexmark X830e`s performance. Documents can be printed at a rated speed of up to 35ppm equating to 30 000 pages yielded from a single toner cartridge. This means that the Lexmark X830e has a duty cycle rating that is double that of any other product in its class. New encryption features and secure authentication are the top priority. These security features allow customers to bring together existing corporate directories, such as Microsoft Active Directory, which allow for secure user authentication to be performed. Finally, the Lexmark X830 printer comes with an e-Task touch screen user interface with one-touch highlighted icons which ensure ease of use.
Often, it`s important to get back to basics. That is why the demand for versatile, easy-to-use laser printers has not diminished.
