Axiz practises what it preaches as it distributes scanners from Harmonic

Technology intelligence distributor Axiz, which for the past two years has been using a range of scanners distributed by mobile specialist company Harmonic, is now distributing the scanning solutions as part of a complete end-to-end solution for the retail industry.

Mark Forbes, point-of-sale product manager at Axiz, says that for resellers to remain competitive they need to add value to their product offerings, and in the retail sector scanners form an integral part of an IT infrastructure.

"We have become recognised for providing technology intelligence and innovative thinking to our business partners when they select best-of-breed products from us. With the inclusion of a wide range of handheld scanner products from Harmonic Group, we are complementing our point-of-sale solutions not only with the hardware, but also the peripherals," says Forbes.

He points out that the Harmonic range has been used internally in the Axiz warehouses where high volumes of line items are scanned in daily thus proving their reliability. Brand recognition, total cost of ownership, warranties and support all come under consideration when Axiz decides whether they suit the distribution model. Also included in that range is the Orient receipt printer.

"We did look at other scanning products over a three-month analysis, but the Harmonic range met our needs," says Forbes.

Michael Nel, support network engineer at Axiz who is responsible for logistics, says the range of Datalogic scanners that have been in use for about two years have proved their worth.

"We operate in a high volume environment and the Datalogic scanners are reliable, durable and robust. They work for us and we can therefore confidently recommend than to our customers," says Nel.
