Axiz releases HP Mini-Note as worldwide demand soars

Johannesburg, 27 Nov 2008

Mini notebooks are an emerging category of mobile computing devices, with worldwide shipments predicted to reach 5.2 million units this year, and eight million units in 2009, according to Gartner. It is further predicted that there could be as many as 50 million mini notebooks shipped in 2012.

Leading IT infrastructure distributor Axiz has just released the HP 2133 Mini-Note, which weighs only 1,27 kg and is a mere 33 mm thin. Adele Oosthuizen, Axiz Category Lead: HP PSG, says the demand for these mini notebooks is being driven by several factors including their small form factor, small screen, light weight, price, ease of use and their basic, but adequate, PC functionality.

“The mini-note market is the fastest growing segment of the mobile PC industry. HP's offerings were designed with a strong emphasis on the education market as the devices offer schools affordable computing for every student, and are indeed flexible enough for students to use from the classroom to the family room. At just slightly over a kilogram, the HP Mini-Note PC is smaller and lighter than many school text books. It includes a suite of wireless, multimedia and security capabilities to allow students to learn everywhere they go.”

Of course business and mobile professionals value the same mobility, usability and cost concerns as the education market, she adds, and the HP 2133 has also proven extremely sought-after in this market sector.

The device offers full wireless technologies such as integrated Wi-Fi Certified WLAN 1 and optional Bluetooth, all of which make researching and communicating more convenient through access to the Internet, e-mail, instant messaging and VoIP. Experience video, still-image capture, web conferencing, or video-enhanced instant messaging with no additional hardware to buy or carry. Integrated VGA webcam enables both video and still-image capture so you can add photos and video clips to presentations, documents and e-mail. Optional security solutions are available to help defend your data and your notebook.

“The HP 2133 comes equipped with all the productivity tools you need to conduct business efficiently on the go, including 8.9-inch diagonal, scratch-resistant, WXGA display which is 92 percent full-size, a user-friendly QWERTY keyboard, and an integrated Secure Digital Reader touchpad with scroll zone,” Oosthuizen says.

The simple, refined design and all-aluminum case make it sleek and sturdy yet super lightweight. Reliable features such as HP DuraKeys, magnesium alloy support structure, and HP 3D DriveGuard help give you a reliable and durable mini-note that can really go the distance.

The recommended retail price is R7 999 (incl. Vat). For more information contact Adele Oosthuizen, Axiz Category Lead: HP PSG. Tel: O11 237 7196 or email adeleo@axiz.co.za. Website: http://www.axiz.com.
