Axiz has secured exclusive distribution rights with US-based mobile peripheral manufacturers Apricorn and Socket Communications.
Patrick Reeves, Axiz mobile products manager, says the two companies` products complement Axiz`s existing range of mobile peripherals and components.
"Socket Communications and Apricorn offer products in the high end of the mobile connectivity and upgrade market," says Reeves.
Apricorn manufactures the EZ-GIG data transfer kit for notebook hard drive upgrades. EZ-GIG simplifies and automates the process of notebook hard drive upgrades using a PC card to mirror data from the old drive to the new one.
"Before EZ-GIG, you had to transfer your data to the new drive, reinstall your operating system, and make sure the new drive conformed to the proprietary hard-drive bracket requirements of your specific notebook," says Reeves. "The EZ-GIG kit includes a drive, PC card and cable that transfers your hard drive`s contents, complete with OS and data files, to the new drive, and customised brackets for different makes of notebook."
EZ-GIG kits are available for a wide variety of notebooks, including Toshiba, IBM, Compaq, HP and Apple.
Socket Communications manufactures PC cards and CompactFlash cards specifically for Windows CE devices. Its products are designed with the battery limitations of these devices in mind, drawing up to 60% less power than conventional devices.
"Axiz recognises Microsoft`s investment in Windows CE technology and products", says Reeves. "Whether you need a low-power Ethernet card, serial and dual serial port cards, an Ethernet/serial combo card or even a handheld barcode scanner card, Socket Communications offers the leading products in their class."
Socket Communications has pioneered the development of PDA plug-in and CompactFlash cards, co-inventing the CF+ standard for extending the CompactFlash specification to include I/O functions, and has representation on the CompactFlash Association`s board of directors.
"Our aim this year is to make the market aware that Axiz is not only the premier PC but also PDA and notebook computer upgrade centre," says Reeves.
