Axiz has announced that Intel`s new Intel Desktop Board D845GVSR, code-named "Seabreeze", is immediately available and in stock.
Alex Morse, Intel desktop product manager at Axiz, states: "This is a new entry-level board from Axiz. It supports both Intel`s 400MHz and 533MHz FSB Celeron and Pentium 4 Processors." It offers support for up to 2GB of DDR 333 SDRAM, IDE ATA/100HDD to facilitate fast transfers to storage devices, 3 PCI slots, integrated two-channel audio, an integrated 10/100 LAN card and onboard graphics through the 845GV chipset.
She adds: "This board was designed by Intel specifically to reduce overall platform cost and as such it delivers real value for money to the price-conscious buyer, while offering them the security of the knowledge that they are buying Intel quality. By integrating the graphics, Intel has done away with the AGP slot and has thus been able to reduce the price of this board."
The three PCI slots are a key feature, according to Morse: "These expansion slots allow avid gamers to customise their system configurations or to accommodate future add-in card upgrades." The board also includes six high-speed USB 2.0 ports - two at the back and a header for two front-panel USB 2.0 ports and Intel`s Rapid BIOS boot which reduces boot time to facilitate swift system access.
Boxed motherboards ship with Intel`s Express Installer CD which includes a variety of tools such as Norton Internet Security, NTI CD-Maker, Farstone RestoreIT! Lite, software drives and a three-year limited warranty. The Desktop Board D845GVSR carries a recommended retail price of R740 including VAT.
